Our trip to Sandland Brygge.

A good weeks fishing was had out of Sandland Brygge. Cod to 48lb and Coalies to 34 lb.

All the boats have AIS so you can track them on AIS here before you go to get the coordinates for the drifts. http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home

The boats names are SILDA, LOPPA, BODEN, BRYNILEN etc. I also have some coordinates from the GPS.

We flew SAS+ which allowed us a second piece of hold luggage each. One piece could be the rod tube or for food and return with 15Kg of fillets. This was about £450 return. Flight from London Heathrow to Oslo and Oslo to Alta. At Alta you gat a transfer to the fast ferry at Oksfiord which was 7000 NOC return. At Oksfiord you wait in the waiting room for the ferr yto turn up at 06:30. A wait of 4 1/2 hrs for us.

And then the ferry arrives. It takes approx 40 minutes to get to Sandland on the ferry. So you have to wait till approx 9:00 before you can get into your room. So we crashed out in the comunity centre. Take the cushions off the chairs and sleep on them on the floor.

So by 10 am we where ready to get out on teh boat. The temptation is to sloop after the 24 hr journey but if you do that you loose a day. On the way back on the thursday the ferry left at 5:30 pm. It takes longer to return so by 9:30 pm we where at Oksfiord. The transfer was waiting for us but we would have got to Alta airport by 11 pm. We would have had a wait outside the airport as the doors arew shut till 5:30 am. We didn't want to wait outside for 7 hrs so we booked into a cabin at the Alta River Fish Camp for the night. 600 NOC for a cabin. We then had a Taxi in the morning at 6 am to the airport.

And the fishing.
